The use of platelet rich plasma (PRP), to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and other soft tissues of the joints, has been gaining popularity since many professional athletes have used this procedure to decrease healing time and improve efficacy.
More recently PRP has been used in the aesthetics industry to combat our body’s waning ability to maintain skin integrity. The excitement around this procedure has been growing because of the promising results seen in improved skin quality and texture.
The procedure is simple. Your blood is drawn then placed in a centrifuge to maximize the concentration of platelets in your plasma. This plasma is rich in many growth factors. We apply a numbing cream to the areas we will treat while you’re waiting for the centrifuge.
Your face will then be cleansed and the reintroduction of your own PRP will be placed via a fine small needle. Once they are injected into your skin, these growth factors are reactivated. This results in increased collagen and elastin production which promotes healthier, thicker skin.
PRP facial can be used in combination with micro-needling, a collagen induction therapy, to attain the best results.
